Role overview
The post holder will work as part of a global team of evaluation and research specialists, conducting evaluations and research across all VSO's programmes and leading on research and evaluations in the education core programming areas.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of research and evaluation methodologies and experience of their application in the context of international development. The post holder will have experience of conducting evaluations in particular in the education sector, using child friendly participatory approaches and of developing and managing research partnership with university and other academic bodies.
Skills, qualifications and experience
- Educated at Masters level (in education and social sciences, research for social sciences, or equivalent)
- Advanced understanding of research, monitoring and evaluation approaches and methodologies.
- Experience of working in the contexts of education and development.
- Good communications skills - able to express complex information in a simple and succinct manner.
- Excellent relationship management skills and experience working with people in different contexts.
- Self starter with initiative and confidence to lead in their designated field.
- Good project management experience.
- Ability to travel for up to 30% of the working time.
- Being up-to-date on the current international debate around development effectiveness and research and evaluation methodologies.
- Understanding of key considerations in working cross-culturally.
This is a national hire post under national terms and conditions. RIGHT TO WORK IN THAILAND IS REQUIRED. We will not be able to obtain visa and work permit to non-Thai nationals.
