Role overview
You will provide strategic and technical advice to senior management and in-country finance team. Leading a portfolio of 9 countries in Asia-Pacific in the areas of financial management, grant management and partner management and building capacity of the in-country finance team.
You will be business partnering the director of operations, Asia Pacific and working closely with a team of international and national professional employees and volunteers in the global team to support VSO to deliver high quality programming through our unique people-centre approach to end poverty and make the difference for the lives of poor people.
Skills, qualifications and experience
- Fully qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or CPA), and strong accountancy and/or financial management experience with involvement in setting up and running finance systems.
- A strong background in the financial management of externally funded grants.
- Demonstration of the ability to analyse staff development needs and to contribute to the delivery of training and coaching at an individual and group level.
- Particularly Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookup functions, Vision Excel reports etc), plus a familiarity of working with computer based financial systems so as to be able to develop / maintain, and give guidance on, electronic and manual project financial monitoring / reporting systems.
- Demonstration of ability to assess, analyse, and report on complex data.
- Demonstration of the ability to be able to work autonomously, set own work plan, meet tight deadlines and balance competing priorities, with a willingness to undertake frequent travel
- Able to travel frequently, for up to 12 weeks annually
- Experience of working in international development overseas
